AGENCY NEWS: ONE OF OUR OWN GETS SURLY

It’s always a pleasure to celebrate when our clients achieve success, but it’s especially rewarding when it’s one of our co-workers who scores a giant win.

It’s always a pleasure to celebrate when our clients achieve success, but it’s especially rewarding when it’s one of our co-workers who scores a giant win.

Recently, Nemer Fieger assistant art director Jake Balch entered his design for Surly Brewing’s 2017 Coaster Contest – and won! He was up against some tough competition, but in the end, the people spoke – and they voted for Jake’s design via the Surly website and at the 331 Club during Art-a-Whirl in May.

So now whenever we’re out at a bar or restaurant where Surly is sold, we can lift our glass of beer and salute our colleague Jake as we brag to everyone within earshot that we know the talented guy who designed the coaster (shown above).

In addition to doing a whole lot of creative design work for our Nemer Fieger clients, Jake also designed a very popular Minnesota Vikings poster and t-shirt that many of us at the agency wear year-round.

Jake had this to say about Surly Brewing, “I’ve been following Surly for years – my favorite beer is Todd the Axe Man. I love how Surly not only respects and nurtures art but wants to be in the community and bring art to the masses. It’s very inspiring to me as an artist.”

Cheers to you, Jake!

Sometimes our job looks more like play and for good reason! Recently we were a part of the DESPICABLE ME 3 Minion Costume Tour at the Mall of America. Sometimes our job looks more like play and for good reason! Recently we were a part of the DESPICABLE ME 3 Minion Costume Tour at the Mall of America. With more than 150,000 people at the Mall throughout the weekend, the Minions were a big hit at both the March of Dimes March for Babies and DESPICABLE ME 3 Minions appearances.

To help build excitement for the weekend events, the Minions made some local TV appearances: KSTP-TV’s Twin Cities Live featured the Minions as part of their “What’s Happening This Weekend” segment. The Minions also stopped by the KMSP-TV Morning Show and were featured on the weekly Friday Dance-Off. Next, the Minions headed to KARE-TV, joining host Jeff Edmondson in the backyard to help with weather and talk about their Mall of America appearances and DESPICABLE ME 3.

The following Saturday, more than 13,000 people along with two Minions (Kevin and Stuart) participated in the March of Dimes “March for Babies” at the Mall of America. Kevin and Stuart were positioned next to the stage, allowing participants to pose for photos before the walk started, and then the Minions led the “March for Babies” throughout Mall of America. During and after the walk, the Minions took photos with many, many excited participants.

On Sunday, Kevin and Stuart took over the Mall of America Rotunda for a DESPICABLE ME 3 event that included photos, face painting, a balloon artist, activities, and prizes. Fans came dressed in Minions-themed shirts and were thrilled to get Minions-themed face painting and balloon animals.

Overall, the event was a huge success for people of all ages. Everyone enjoyed the chance to see and meet the Minions and will be lining up to watching DESPICABLE ME 3 when it comes out in theaters!

WHAT’S HAPPENING: BRIDGEWATER BANK

Everyone loves a good visual before and after, right? We had the opportunity to be a part of one when we were approached by Bridgewater Bank with the assignment of refreshing the bank’s outdoor billboards, bus bench ads, and backlit Skyway ads. The goal of the ad refresh was to promote Bridgewater’s small bank approach and speak to both of their commercial and personal banking audiences, as well as demonstrate how they differ from large, impersonal banks.

Our creative team designed several concepts that got to the heart of Bridgewater Bank’s strengths. Our result: a headline of “BIG BANKS? NO THANKS.” teamed with a bold, yet clean and streamlined design that was a major crowd pleaser.

The shiny new ads have spurred a great deal of positive feedback, engaging both current and potential new customers for the bank – and for Nemer Fieger, as this project has led to a handful of new opportunities with Bridgewater.

We’ll be honest - it’s a thrill to drive down Excelsior Boulevard and see one of the newly designed billboards near our office in St. Louis Park.

Ok, we’ll stop talking now and simply let the images prove our point.

CELEBRATING OUR (REAL) POWER 50 PRESIDENT!

People win awards every day, but when it’s your President who brings home the hardware? Well, it’s clearly a red letter day! And that’s precisely what happened recently when our very own J. Marie Fieger won Minnesota Business magazine’s The (Real) Power 50.

In its fourth year, The (Real) Power recognizes those passionate business leaders who know how to take charge, network with a purpose, and get things done. The nominees are chosen by the award’s Alumni, as well as the magazine’s trusted partners and business leaders.

Honorees attended an event at the JW Marriott Minneapolis Mall of America, with a night of drinks, dinner, and celebration. Each honoree was also listed in the May issue of Minnesota Business magazine.

J. Marie credits her father Jim for teaching her to navigate the tricky yet rewarding ropes of advertising , along with the importance of tendering key relationships with clients of all sizes.

We at Nemer Fieger are thrilled to know the Twin Cities recognizes our President in such an honorable way. Her benevolent spirit and indefatigable work spirit inspire us every day. Congrats J. Marie!

NEMER FIEGER OUT AND ABOUT

As we’ve previously noted on this blog, Nemer Fieger has a definite soft spot for volunteering. It’s really important to us to get out and love on our Twin Cities, and we always end up feeling as though we personally gained just as much as the recipients.

As we’ve previously noted on this blog, Nemer Fieger has a definite soft spot for volunteering. It’s really important to us to get out and love on our Twin Cities, and we always end up feeling as though we personally gained just as much as the recipients.

Our most recent volunteer gig took us to the Mall of America for One Walk, the world’s largest Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Walk anywhere. There were more than 20,000 walkers at MOA supporting the JDRF to help find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes.

In addition to walking more laps than we could count around the Mall, the Nemer Fieger team exceeded our fund raising goal and helped break the JDRF goal by raising over $1.6 million for the Minnesota chapter. Hats off to the JDRF for an incredible event and the Nemer Fieger Team for setting the bar higher for next year’s 25th One Walk Anniversary!

What’s Happening: Charlie Awards

November is the month of food (thanks for that, Thanksgiving), and one of our favorite times of the year due to the Charlie Awards. In its fifth year, this event showcases our local independent food and beverage community, and recognizes the exceptional contribution of the Twin Cities metro area restaurant, food, and beverage industry. Nemer Fieger’s charge was to garner pre and post publicity for the event, as well as secure media partnerships.

NEMER FIEGER OUT AND ABOUT

We work hard here at Nemer Fieger, but that’s not all we do. Being entrenched in our community and giving back is a solid passion of ours, and we’re so lucky to have the support of our executives, who not only encourage all of us to get out and volunteer during the workday, but also join right along.

Being entrenched in our community and giving back is a solid passion of ours, and we’re so lucky to have the support of our executives, who not only encourage all of us to get out and volunteer during the workday, but also join right along.

Once a quarter, we choose a volunteer opportunity that helps out a local non-profit. This time it was “A Celebration of Sorts,” a collaboration of Arc’s Value Village and Greater Twin Cities United Way. We spent the morning at the Minnesota State Fair’s Dairy Building sorting semi-truckloads worth of Halloween costumes. You can imagine the fun that ensued. Click the camera icon to see our smiling faces and delightful wares.
