Midtown Global Market to Feature 10 Vendors at Four Locations

Minneapolis (August 11, 2011) — Visitors to this year’s Minnesota State Fair are invited to taste a sampling of worldly fare and explore global treasures from 10 restaurants, grocers and gift stores from Midtown Global Market (MGM). The MGM vendors will be located at four locations throughout the Fairgrounds: the International Bazaar, the MGM Tent across from the International Bazaar entrance, the Food Building and Heritage Square.

NEW this year from MGM vendors:
•Fresh fruit with soft serve frozen yogurt dessert from The Produce Exchange and the Salty Tart in the MGM tent across from the International Bazaar’s main entrance;
•Chow fun, a wide rice noodle stir fry mix with vegetables from Pham’s Deli (Aug. 29 – Sept. 1 in the International Bazaar);
•Sweet corn tamale desserts from La Loma Tamales (Sept. 2 – 5 in the International Bazaar)

Three MGM restaurants will alternate in the Midtown Global Market Taste booth located within the International Bazaar:

•Aug. 25 – 28: Jakeeno’s Trattoria– Jakeeno’s will offer Fairgoers a taste of Italy with their prosciutto wrapped asparagus, their renowned pear and gorgonzola salad, and garlic cheese bread.

•Aug. 29 – Sept. 1: Pham’s Deli – Guests to Pham’s Deli may enjoy a variety of Vietnamese items including chicken vegetable dumplings, crispy chicken wontons, Vietnamese egg rolls, Vietnamese bourbon chicken on a stick, and chow fun, a wide rice noodle stir fry mix with vegetables. Pham’s will also be offering refreshing bubble tea, in a wide variety of flavors.

•Sept. 2 – 5: Delicious varieties of La Loma Tamales will include chicken, pork and vegetarian and as well as a NEW sweet corn tamale for dessert.

Every day in the Food Building, Manny’s Tortas will be serving up his critically-acclaimed Cuban, chicken, Hawaiian and vegetarian tortas (gourmet Mexican sandwiches). Fairgoers can also cool off with Manny’s refreshing non-alcoholic pina colada served in a fresh pineapple or enjoy cup full of juicy pineapple bites.

The Produce Exchange and the Salty Tart bakery will return to the Fair under the MGM yellow tent on the lawn of the Agriculture Building (across from the entrance to the International Bazaar). NEW this year is the fresh fruit with soft serve frozen yogurt dessert. The Produce Exchange will also feature its famous “Big As Yo’ Face” peaches and sweet and juicy nectarines, and the Salty Tart will again offer Michelle Gayer’s award-winning macaroons (a.k.a. “crack-a-roons” as they are so addicting!).

In Heritage Square, Café Finspang will offer authentic Scandinavian gifts, crafts, food and collectables including Norwegian Trolls and Viking gear.

Three other Midtown Global Market businesses will be independently located in the International Bazaar, including Holy Land Grocery and Deli dishing-up authentic Middle Eastern fare, Fiesta in America featuring an assortment of Mexican candy and popsicles and Global Mama’s featuring authentic African clothing and jewelry.
