Midtown Global Market, in partnership with Doing Good Together, will host Better Together, a community-wide family service event. Children of all ages and their families are invited to come together to do simple, hands-on service projects, reflect on the importance of giving back, and learn how to get involved in their community.
A diverse group of local, non-profit organizations will be participating, each hosting a “station” with a kid-friendly service activity for families to complete onsite. The organizations will also provide information about their work and volunteer opportunities available for families.
Activities include:
- Decorating lunch bags for Meals on Wheels recipients
- Packaging rice and beans for Centro Emergency Food Shelf
- Learning about people around the world with Global Citizens Network
- Folding paper cranes for the Brain Injury Association of Minnesota
- Creating giving boxes to take home to use to collect money for charity
- Contributing to an art collaboration project that will be on display at the Market
This event will be held in conjunction with Midtown Global Market’s Family night, and will feature live, family entertainment from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Market’s Central Plaza.

Doing Good Together (DGT) is a non-profit organization with the mission to inspire, encourage and equip families to volunteer together, to spend time with loved ones while also helping the larger world. In the process, we raise children who are compassionate, aware of social issues, and are instilled with the lifelong habit of giving. DGT provides hands-on tools specifically for parents, and also teaches organizations how to more effectively engage families in service.
