Watch as Vonn takes to the slopes in Vancouver at Buck Hill in Burnsville
Win a trip to Vail or new skies
Burnsville, Minn. (February 9, 2010) --- On Wednesday morning, February 17, Minnesota-native Lindsey Vonn goes for the gold in Vancouver in the best of her five events, the downhill. Vonn’s race with be re-broadcast on NBC between 7:00 and 10:30 p.m. that evening. Gold medal or not, her local legion of fans and supporters are invited to watch the race during a viewing party at Buck Hill in Burnsville, Minn.
A Vail trip for four people will be given-away to one lucky Lindsey Vonn fan in attendance. The drawing will be held at 10:00 p.m. or the conclusion of the downhill coverage which ever is later. A second trip and a pair of HEAD skis, signed and skied on by Lindsey herself, will be sold in a silent auction from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. with proceeds benefiting the Buck Hill Ski Racing Team.
The Vail trips include roundtrip airfare for four on Delta from Minneapolis/St. Paul to Vail/Eagle, Colorado from Delta Air Lines, three nights lodging, and three days lift tickets to Vail Mountain. (Contestants must be 18-years-of-age to register to win. Winner will be drawn at random.)
Lindsey (Kildow) Vonn spent her early days training at Buck Hill. At the age of two, Vonn first began skiing at Buck Hill. Her father Allen Kildow, a former U.S. Ski Team athlete, was a coach for the Buck Hill Ski Team. Lindsey skied and trained at Buck Hill for the next 11 years with legendary U.S. Ski Hall of Fame coach Erich Sailer. She honed her slalom skills on Buck Hill's training run which features a 60' starting ramp and a high speed rope tow.
In addition to Vonn, Buck Hill currently boasts four additional members of the U.S. Ski Team, and many others over the years have started their racing careers at Buck Hill.
